A little catch up...

I thought I would play a little catch up...  I had posted a few blurbs on my bodybuilding.com 'blog' from when I initially started training and thought I would transfer them over here...  Ok, so if you really want to catch up, you might be in for some long reading!  Some of you may have already read these on either my fitness page on FB (which I will be deleting soon), or on my bodyspace account, so if you have, just ignore!  I just wanted to put everything all in one place...

November 5, 2012 - Stepping out of my comfort zone

Started my new bulking meal plan and workout schedule today... At the moment, I am still trying to get down Meal 4, yet feel like I am going to bust my gut! So much food! It seems I used to be counting down the time to when I needed to eat again and now, when I see that it is time, I am like "Aw crap!" LOL. Some of these meals literally take me almost an hour to eat, while I try to work and because there is so much of it. I am also being asked to get in 1.25 gallons of water too. Ack! I am going to trust in his program (because I have seen first hand his client transformations) and just make myself do it! My luck, I will just get used to all this food and then it will start being time to lean out and I will go back to be starving and counting down until my next meal! :)

My workout with the trainers on Saturday was legs and it was a kick ass workout. Still pretty sore today (Monday) from it, so got in some good stretching after this morning's Heavy Shoulder workout. Shoulders are definitely taxed, because I really had a hard time just moving my arms around at my keyboard/desk!

As far as stepping out of my comfort zone... The meal plan gave me a fright initially. There were items on it that I just don't like and had asked for some alternatives... Ya... that was shot down! hahahah I have basically been eating the same thing for so long that it is probably a big reason that I feel like I have been stuck. My body adapted to what I was eating and I wasn't seeing any further change, so... I just have to do it. My husband prepped some of the 'new' food and I will officially start that tomorrow. I am really crossing my fingers that I will be pleasantly surprised and really like the new stuff. It really does suck being a picky eater, but it is so hard to get out of that type of mindset, when you have been there for so long!

November 10, 2012 - Week 1 off-season figure prep

Well, today completed my first week of off-season contest prep and boy, was it interesting! As I mentioned, I was a little freaked out about the meal plan, initially. My trainer didn't baby me at all and I felt like a kid that was stuck at the table and told that if I didn't eat my dinner, I couldn't get down or go out to play! I guess that is what I needed, so I bucked up and ate the recipe that he gave me, beans and all!

Monday and Tuesday were the worst! I was so full every meal and when my next meal came around, I was like "WTF"???? It was all I could do to get all the food in. I could swear I was eating like 3,000 calories, and when curiousity got the best of me, I entered everything on myfitnesspal and it was just under 1900. I have done that many before, but never felt like this!

My Meal 5 involves 6 oz of vegetables, along with my protein. When I tell people this, they say "oh, that isn't alot..." Are you freaking kidding me? Have you actually weighed your food out before? I just have my family keep me occupied as I continually feed my face! The first couple of days, some of my meals took me nearly an hour to eat! I was really wondering if I could do this on a daily basis! And then, the wonderful side-effects of a new plan started to kick in... My meal 3 involves beans... fortunately, the gas didn't usually start until after I left work, so while at home, all I can do is say "sorry!" every time a SBD slipped out, because I literally have no control! My husband and kids find it quite amusing!

So, it isn't just gas that makes this so much fun... All those veggies at night and I find out that my stomach likes to blow up like a balloon! I got curious again and got a tape measure out... BAD IDEA! I had 1 1/2" gain in bloat! I thought I would bust open!

Here comes the interesting part... With all this going on, I have been paranoid to step on the scale, so when I did this morning at 6am before heading out to meet my trainers I was pretty shocked... 3lbs lost! WTH? I thought I was bulking here! I think a lot of it was getting back on a 100% clean plan, because I indulged a bit here and there in the weeks before I started. See a few posts back talking about "enjoy it while I can!".

Now the good part... Cheat meal earned! For cheats, we start with Meal 5 and eat what we want until bed. He said to go all out! So, tonight, it is smoked sausage tortelline in a nice and creamy garlic alfredo sauce and then taking the kids to USwirl for some loaded frozen yogurt! YES! It has been so long!

As far as training, it has been AWESOME! I worked legs last week and today was a grueling back/bicep workout with the trainer. She is awesome at pushing me to lift heavy and get that one or two extra reps out. On my own has been good to. I love the split. Since I am entering figure, a lot of heavy back and shoulder workouts that really push my limits. Tomorrow's plyo workout looks grueling, but I am sure it will be just what I need after tonight's cheat! :)

I am still active in the TSN Lean Lady Challenge and there is only 1 1/2 weeks of that left. The challenge has definitely gone by quickly and I hope I have some progress to show for it, although it may not be a lot of 'leaning' out, based on the type of workouts (no cardio) and the increase in food. Even a little more muscle definition at this point would be nice! :)

On to week 2!

November 17, 2012 - Week 2 - Off Season Figure Prep

Today finished week 2 of training... I had my workout with Shawna this morning at 7am and I am completely spent! After my workout, I ran a few errands and when I came back home took a nice long nap, only now, I am still exhausted. We worked shoulders/chest/triceps today and either I went to failure, or she was spotting me most lifts. I literally felt like I had no strength left anywhere and she was awesome at pushing me to get just one more rep out. Finished with a ton of ab work and had to just sit there afterwards until things settled down. Damn... I am more tired just thinking about it! :)

Food went really well this week. I actually prepared all our lean protein for our dinners, so all I had to do was warm it up, along with my veggies and it was ready to go. The soup is growing on me (shhh... don't tell Jon! haha) and that is also really easy to prepare in the crockpot and divide up. I lost another two pounds this week, and down 5 total. I messaged Jon about mid-week and he wanted me to finish out my plan and then he is going to bump up my calories by 500 - 1,000 this weekend. So, I am now anxiously awaiting the new meal plan, so I can make my grocery list and go shopping for it and get it all prepped. He said that his goal for me right now would be to get to 2,500 to 3,000 calories a day, with minimal fat gain and I would be in a good starting position for prep later in January. Oy... some days, I have a hard time eating the meal plan I have now and getting it all in, so I am sure the first few days will be interesting!

Veggie bloating is pretty much gone now and hasn't been an issue (at least not like it was the first few days), but the gas (especially after about 6pm) is still prominent! Ugh... wish I could get away from that, but I am afraid it will be a neccessary evil. One bit of good news (and maybe too much TMI), but I have never been so regular in my life, then I have been these last two weeks!

I asked about plans for competitions and it looks like my first one will be the Empire Classic, May 11, 2013. It is nice to have a set date and a goal to shoot for!

And now... off to cook tonight's cheat meal! We definitely look forward to these each week. This week, it is biscuits and gravy with breakfast sausage and then I am sure another trip to USwirl for dessert! Now, where are those Stacy's Pita chips to snack on while I cook dinner! Yeah Baby! :)
