Take a chill pill, Mel...

So...  I actually started working on my next post yesterday afternoon.  I hadn't posted it yet, because I was waiting on a few things to add, but now, I wanted to scrap it and start over.  After looking at it again, I realized that I didn't have the best attitude...  I was kind of freaking out over something that I shouldn't have and I need to just calm down, trust the process and keep working hard.  I am doing everything on my end of things to make this successful and that is all I can ask of myself to do.

It all started with Friday being weigh-in day.  I was excited for it.  I was on top of my meals and water all week...  got through some temptations with a work lunch and the feeling of being hungry earlier between meals.  I knew I was going to step on that scale and be AMAZED!  When I did weigh-in, I had no change in weight this week.  I literally sunk.  All I could think about was if Jon and Shawna were going to think that I had cheated.  I worried about whether or not I would get a stupid cheat meal.  The thing is, I don't even really need one!  I love all my food right now.  It tastes good, I am satisfied, so unless it is right under my nose, I am not really thinking about other food.  So, why was this loss of weight and the ever elusive cheat meal so important to me??

I don't even think I have an answer to that.  I am becoming consumed with all of this and I am still 17 weeks out!  Time to calm down, take that 'chill pill', work the program and the results will be there.  Time to focus on the non-scale accomplishments and just have some fun with this!  And all this coming from the girl that continually tells other people to ditch the scale and not obsess over it!  I am a work in progress and am working on the wonderful tag line of The Sweaty Betties...  "Don't be a B!tch!"

So, with that being said, here are some things that I noticed this week.  Even though there was no change in the scale, I had about a 1/4" loss in each of my thighs as well as my hips.  I also decided to take a new flex picture, since I realized that I had almost a 3/4" gain in my arm measurement since this summer.  I am sure it will go back down with some leaning out, but I am pretty sure there is a bit more tricep in there, from what I had before.

01/04/13 - 140 lbs

I also love how the shape of my upper body is coming together.  I can see some definition in my shoulders and even my chest and I am happy to see my hard work paying off.  I know that it will take a lot more time to get to where I want to be, but I love the process, so it works for me!

Oh, and did I mention that I got my first ever pull-up this week!  No jerking, jumping or assistance.  A straight arm hanging pull-up!  I actually got 3 in and was pretty stoked.  I wanted to try for a wide overhand grip later in the week, but when I did, my upper body was so sore from my chest and arms workout with Shawna that it was a no-go.  No worries...  I know I will get it!  Actually, it is late Saturday and I am STILL sore from that workout on Wednesday night.  My boobies hurt! haha

Friday night I got to pick out my suit material!  I had no idea what to expect!  There were several tubs of material, sorted by color that you could go through.  It all looked so cool!  I had no idea what would look best on me, so I grabbed some blues, purples, greens and blacks that I liked.  Everyone was waiting their turn to show them to Shawna and Marisa to get their opinion on what looked best.  I settled on a shimmering dark purple that had a green background/undertone to it.  It is so hard to explain and he color even seems to change a bit under different light.  Here is a picture of my little swatch of material.  The one on the left is the closest to the actual color, but for whatever reason, my camera just couldn't quite pick the color up!  Crazy, huh?  It looks like 3 completely different materials!

And here we go...  17 weeks left and all there is to do is to follow the plan.  No more fretting or worrying about how many calories, protein, carbs, etc. I am eating...  That's what i pay Big Jon for.  Eat my food, drink my water and kick ass in the gym.  I am starting 25 min of cardio 3x a week, so that should be an interesting addition.  I haven't done cardio since early October!  I just hope our one stair machine at the gym is available when I need it!

  1. Your suit material *does* look like 3 different colors -- how cool! I cant wait to see it on you! Your arms look great, so strong! And you're only human, so freaking out is part of our nature. But big ups to you for knowing when to "calm the F down" as my friends would say! LOL
